Dartmouth men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach James Holder has announced the hiring of Helaina Sacco as an assistant coach ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Sacco comes to the Upper Valley from Ohio Northern, where she served as assistant coach for three seasons.

“We are very excited to welcome Helaina to Dartmouth and our program,” Holder said. “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team and we are looking forward to the impact she will have with our teams in the years to come.”

While in Ohio, Sacco had a number of responsibilities including writing pre- and post-season workouts, serving as recruiting coordinator, monitoring the weight room, working as assistant aquatics director, organizing clinics and running the social media accounts.

Prior to that, she was an assistant coach at the University of Mary Washington (Sept. 2014 – April 2015) and a student-athlete support services intern at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Aug. 2013 – June 2014).

Sacco graduated summa cum laude and with high honors from the University of Maine in 2012 with a degree in sociology. She went on to get her master’s in sociology of sport from Loughborough University in England in 2013, graduating with merit.
