NEW COMMIT: Gettysburg College has gained a new commitment for the fall of 2020 from Benjamin Fox of Howard Beach, N.Y. who will suit up for the Bullets as a member of the class of 2024.

Fox does his club swimming with the YMCA Flushing Flyers and recently recorded three top-7 finishes at the CIY Holiday Invitational in December. This past summer, he earned 100% best times at Metropolitan LCM Seniors before going on to race four events at YMCA LCM Nationals. A current senior at Scholars Academy, Fox raced the 100 fly at the 2019 New York Boys Federation Championships.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to Gettysburg College. When I went on campus for my overnight, I had a warm welcome from both the team and the coaches, and I feel that this is the best choice for me both academically and athletically. Thank you to Coach Brown, Coach Moser and Coach Cotton for their support and encouragement. I also want to thank my parents, brother, family, Coach Richie and Coach Michelle for always believing in me. I can’t wait to be a Bullet!”

His best times include:

  • 500 free- 4:52.72
  • 100 back – 53.91
  • 200 back – 1:57.19
  • 100 fly – 53.56
  • 200 IM – 2:00.16

Fox will make a big impact for Gettysburg when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season. He would’ve placed in the B-final of the 500 free and is just out the outskirts of scoring range in several other events at the 2019 Centennial Conference Championships where the Bullets were the team runner-ups.
