NEW COMMIT: Elkhart, Ind. native Grace Brenneman has decided to remain in-state for her college career after verbally committing to the University of Notre Dame for the fall of 2022.

She will join Renee Gillilan of Fossil Ridge, Colo. as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Notre Dame! Thank you to all my family, friends, and coaches for the prayers and amazing support along the way! GO IRISH! ☘”

Brenneman, who trains year-round with Concord Swim Club, is a Junior National qualifier who most recently earned seven new best times at the Skypoint Transit Invitational earlier this month. She raced three events at Juniors East last December and finaled in five events at Indiana LCM Seniors in Summer 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.06
  • 100 free – 50.81
  • 200 free – 1:49.23
  • 200 IM – 2:05.41
  • 100 fly – 56.85

Currently a junior at Concord Community High School, Brenneman is already a four-time individual Indiana State Championship finalist. She placed sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 free as a sophomore while taking fifth in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 free during her freshman season.

The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a four-time IHSA Sectional Championship finalist, grabbing gold in the 100 free and silver in the 50 free in 2020.

Even with two years to go before suiting up for the Fighting Irish at the start of the 2022-23 season, Brenneman will make a big impact both individually and on freestyle relays. Under head coach Michael Litzinger, Notre Dame finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 ACC Championships.
