Wildcat Swim Camp

Each summer, the Villanova coaching staff welcomes the opportunity to develop future champions. The Wildcat Swim Camp staff is committed to not only building great young athletes, but also building confident young swimmers who will consistently strive to reach their maximum potential. Hard work is only part of the process. To achieve great success, athletes must focus on all aspects of personal development. The Wildcat Swim Camp will provide athletes with that necessary direction.

Two Wildcat Swim Camps are offered: Distance Training Camp and Four Stroke Technique Camp.

The Distance Training Camp

Villanova Swimming prides itself on its long history of excellence in the distance events. Villanova athletes have experienced great success in the distance events including several back-to-back conference champions, record holders, NCAA qualifiers and Olympians from several nations. Now you can spend a week in the Villanova “D-Group”!

2 in-pool training sessions daily. Each session will be directed by Coach Rick Simpson personally.

  • Dryland program.
  • Lunch break- Provided in the Villanova Dining Hall.
  • Guest lectures and technical meetings covering race strategies and pacing, nutrition, health management in a high volume program, stroke technique, etc.
  • Overnight and day camp available.

The Four Stroke Technique Camp

Each week, the Villanova coaching staff, will focus on all aspects of competitive swimming. The camper will be exposed to a variety of topics such as stroke technique, training methods, strength training, nutrition, and sports psychology. Athletes will have their strokes videotaped and analyzed. Note: the Four Stroke camps are day camps only.

Wildcat Swim Camp Dates:

June 24-June 28 – Distance Training Camp (Overnight and Day Camps options)

July 8-July 12 – Four Stroke Camp (Day camp only)

About Coach Simpson

During his time as head coach of the Villanova men’s and women’s swimming & diving programs Rick Simpson has made his mark as not only a successful coach, but also has broadened the program’s recruiting horizons both nationwide and internationally. He is in his 17th year with the Wildcats in 2016-17.  In the past six years, Simpson has seen the Villanova women’s swimming & diving team elevate to become one of the top BIG EAST programs thanks to an influx of both local and international talent. The women’s team won their third consecutive BIG EAST Championship in 2016. The Wildcats won all but two events at the meet, breaking 13 records in the process. Between the women’s and men’s teams, 18 student-athletes earned All-BIG EAST honors.
