Erin Son of Scarlet Aquatics Lends 2022 Verbal Commitment to Army West Point

NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Erin Son of Warren, N.J. has announced her verbal commitment to the United States Military Academy at West Point beginning in the fall of 2022.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the United States Military Academy at West Point to continue my athletic and academic career. A big thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have supported me and helped me come this far. Go ARMY!”

A talented freestyler and IMer, Son does her club swimming with Scarlet Aquatics and placed eighth in the 800m free and ninth in the 1500m free at Plantation Sectionals back in March after posting five top-5 finishes at New Jersey Seniors.

In Summer 2019, she registered five best times at Rutgers Sectionals where her highest finish was an 11th-place showing in the mile.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:54.56
  • 500 free – 5:04.01
  • 1000 free – 10:11.37
  • 200 IM – 2:09.70
  • 400 IM – 4:33.02

Under head coach Brandt Nigro, the Black Knights finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Patriot League Championships. Army will welcome Maddie ClarkLauren WetzelMary Rotenberg, Meghan ColeSarah Platt, and Rea Smith to West Point at the start of the 2021-22 season.
