Claire Adams, Jordan Windle Nominated For Big 12 Athlete of the Year

Junior diver Jordan Windle is UT’s nominee for the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year, while senior swimmer Claire Adams is UT’s nominee for the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year.

Fan voting for Big 12 Female and Male Athlete of the Year opens at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, May 22 and will close by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26.

The fan selection will be considered in the final tally for the prestigious award. The 2019-20 Big 12 Athletes of the Year will be announced on the Big 12’s social media platforms on Thursday, May 28.

Jordan Windle, the reigning three-time Big 12 Diver of the Year, picked up three CSCAA All-America citations this season, bringing his career total to 11. He concluded the season with a sweep at the Zone D Championship, winning the platform (927.15), 3m (820.85) and the 1m (771.90) to qualify for all three at NCAAs. Windle was also the Big 12 Champion in the 3m (553.15) and platform (520.40) and took second in the 1m and claimed Big 12 Diver of the Meet honors. His 3m score at the Big 12 meet set an NCAA record. Windle took second in the men’s platform competition at USA Winter Championships, as he scored a 1434.05 over the entirety of the event. Throughout the season, Windle won 16 different dive competitions.

Claire Adams earned her third-straight Big 12 Swimmer of the Year honor following the conclusion of the 2019-20 season. This season, Adams was named the Big 12 Swimmer of the Meet after taking first in every race she swam, including the 100 free (48.03) and 100 back (51.10) and swimming a leg on the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay. She touched at 50.51 in the 100 back for the fourth-best time in the nation on Feb. 27, and in the 50 back she touched at 23.84, again the fourth-fastest time in the nation this season. Adams wrapped up her career as a 23-time Big 12 Champion and a 25-time All-American after picking up six citations in 2020.
