NEW COMMIT: North Garden, Va. native and breaststroker Elisabeth Bendall will head to Boston for her college career after verbally committing to Northeastern University beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join Cambria SemmenMarcela Scaramuzza and Kotoko Blair as a member of the Huskies’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“Here we go!! I’m overjoyed and beyond grateful to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Northeastern University!! I’m still entirely in disbelief that this dream has come true. I’d like to thank my family, teammates, friends, coaches, and teachers for all the motivation and guidance throughout the years. I cannot wait to begin my greatest adventure yet with such an amazing group of women! Go Huskies!! ❤️??

Bendall, who does her club swimming with Cavalier Aquatics, has picked up seven new best times at intrasquad meets since the pandemic. In July 2019, she earned 100% best times at Virginia LCM Seniors where she finaled in both breaststroke events.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.38
  • 200 breast – 2:23.25
  • 200 IM – 2:10.45

Currently a junior at Monticello High School, Bendall is already a four-time individual Virginia 3A State Championship finalist. She was the runner-up in the 100 breast and placed eighth in the 200 IM during both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Bendall will add valuable depth both individually and on medley relays for the Huskies, who are also bringing in a large and talented class in the fall of 2021. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast at least year’s conference meet.

Northeastern finished seventh overall in the team standings at the 2020 CAA Championships under head coach Roy Coates.
