The Danish Swimming Union named its World Championships team for the 2019 World Championships this July. Anton Ipsen and Pernille Blume will be in attendance for the Danish team. The team will consist of 12 total swimmers that will include long-time national team veterans Jeanette Ottesen and Mie Nielsen.

All 12 of the selected swimmers were under the times required. In 2017 at the last World Championships, only six Danish swimmers made the required selection times.

“It is a positive development that more swimmers have swam during the individual requirements times than has been the case at the previous World Cup. Where the championships in Budapest in 2017 were six swimmers under the individual requirements times, this time there are nine swimmers under the individual requirements times, which testifies to a positive development of the Danish swimmers’ international high performance level,” says country coach Stefan Hansen.

“At this year’s World Championships, we set up a team where there is a good mix of both experienced swimmers and younger swimmers, and I am sure that we hereby have the opportunity to help the younger swimmers benefit from it knowledge and the experiences that experienced swimmers bring with them to the World Cup. The same goes for the coaching team,” says Stefan Hansen.

“In the coming months, the team will focus on targeted training and preparation of the World Cup, including training camps and a number of different international events in Europe.

“I look very much forward to getting started with my work as part of the swimmers’ preparation towards the championship. In addition, I look forward to supporting both swimmers and coaches together with the other experts, so that we can together utilize our resources the best possible and thus optimize our opportunities for success at the competitions in Gwangju, the country coach concludes.”
