The final duo of 2017 Florida high school swim and dive meets take place this weekend. It kicks off Friday with the 4A meet and then 3A competition will be on Saturday.

Last year the 3A girls meet came down to a half point, with Bartram Trail just beating Gainesville. Chiles won the boys’ competition by 44 points in 2016.

Girls

Creekside has the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays second seed and holds the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay. Bartram Trail has the fastest entry in the 400 freestyle relay.

Gainesville’s Alena Kraus, a Louisville commit, returns as the top seed to defend her 100 and 200 freestyle titles.

Fort Myers freshman Olivia McMurray is entered first in the 200 IM at 2:00.81. Last year’s runner up- Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield is second seed again. McMurray is also top seed in the 500 free (4:46.95) by a significant margin. Stanfield is also second in the 100 back behind Clearwater’s Helena Heuberger.

Another freshman, Olivia Peoples of Nease, has the top spot in the 100 breast (1:04.56), ahead of six 1:06s. Ria Malhotra, a junior from Nease, is the top entrant in the 50 free.

Boys

After winning both freestyle relays last year, Doral (Miami) has the top seed in the 400 freestyle relay. Aitor Fungairino won the 200 and 500 freestyles last year. The Belen Jesuit senior returns as the top seed in the 200 free and is entered third in the 500 free.

Bartram Trail’s Jack VanDeusen is entered first in the 200 IM by a full two seconds. Naples senior Davis Olmsted is first seed in the 50 free and is third behind two more seniors- Colton Gray and John Yambor-Maul- in the 100 free. Olmsted’s senior teammate Matthew Limbacher will look to defend his 100 breaststroke title.

After touching third behind two seniors last year, Chiles’ Ryland Sun has the top spot headed into the 100 backstroke. Sun is second in the 100 fly behind Doral junior Adrian Aguilar. That is Aguilar’s only entry again this year, suggesting he’s likely to be a key piece of all three Doral relays again.
