This coming weekend is the last one for the month of October and the college swimming season is quickly descending down to the mid-season invites at the end of November and December. A lot of Atlantic Coast Conference teams are in action this weekend but every school is swimming a non-conference opponent.

The (#15/10) Virginia Cavaliers will be hosting the (#25/16) Auburn Tigers out of the Southeastern Conference while the North Carolina Tar Heels will host (#24/NR) South Carolina, and (#11/8) Louisville will be on the road at (#12/9) Tennessee in two other ACC-SEC matchups.

(#23/18) Notre Dame will host Big Ten rival and in-state foe (#20/NR) Purdue while Virginia Tech will host Big Ten schools (#16/17) Ohio State and Penn State.

In other non-conference action, (#20/25) Florida State will host (#14/24) Arizona State out of the Pac-12 Conference.

Louisville will be at Tennessee on Thursday night before the Volunteers will host conference rival Alabama on Friday. Last season, the Cardinals took two losses to the Vols in Louisville as the women came up short 144-156. Louisville is one spot ahead of Tennessee in both the men’s and women’s pre-season CSCAA poll.

Louisville is coming off its most successful women’s season yet as they were fifth at NCAA’s in 2018 while Tennessee was seventh. Tennessee has yet to swum a dual meet this season.

One of the best matchups will be between Erika Brown in the 100 fly against Louisville’s Grace Oglesby. Brown was national runner-up in 2018 while Oglesby was seventh. Oglesby is currently third in the country this year in the 100 fly.

Virginia will be hosting Auburn as some of the Cavalier women’s swimmers will be competing in their fourth straight weekend meet. But the Hoos will be at home so fatigue might not be a factor as Virginia is getting ready for their big matchup with Louisville on the road next weekend.

Weekend Slate:

  • Louisville at Tennessee; Thursday
  • Arizona State at Florida State; Friday
  • Auburn at Virginia; Friday
  • South Carolina at North Carolina; Friday
  • Purdue at Notre Dame; Friday
  • Ohio State, Penn State at Virginia Tech; Friday, Saturday
