Men’s 400 IM

The ACC accomplished a similar feat with their one-three-five finish in the men’s race. The combination of Sam Helmbacher (3:44.43), Marci Barta (3:45.95) and Ted Schubert (3:46.50).  Breaking up the ACC domination were Thomas Cope (3:45.80) and Charlie Swanson (3:46.17). All five scorers now hold the top five times in the NCAA this year.

After an even race in the fly leg, Helmbacher out split the field in the back with a 57.56. Despite a quick 1:01.84 breaststroke split from Cope, he could not catch Helmbacher in the end.
