2020 Olympic Trials Cuts Will Be Webcast by USA Swimming September 27

USA Swimming is building excitement for the Olympics by announcing the 2020 Olympic trials cut on a webcast.

USA Swimming Tweeted the information out:

“The webcast of the 2020 Olympic Trials cuts will be September 27. 27 of 28 events have at least 1 swimmer in the top 10 who have won an Olympic medal in the field. Only the men’s 1500 Free doesn’t have an Olympic medalist in the top 10.”

The announcement in 2016 also came via webcast hosted by Rowdy Gaines.

The qualifying period for the 2020 Olympics begins November 28. That is the first day of winter nationals.

Times from any meet beginning with nationals leading up to the trials will be eligible.

The Olympic trials will be in Omaha, Nebraska, for the fourth consecutive time at the CenturyLink Center.

The facility, typically the home of Creighton University’s Division I men’s basketball program, will again seat 13,000-plus fans for eight days of swimming, as it has for the Olympic Trials in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

The Trials will be held June 21-28, 2017, a few days earlier than the 2016 Trials (June 26-July 3) due to the Tokyo Olympics beginning earlier (July 25) than those in Rio (Aug. 6). Unger indicated that USA Swimming expects all eight nights of the meet to be broadcast live on NBC Sports channels.
