2019 Speedo Sectionals Jenks Day 2: Kendall, Dolan Add to First-Place Finishes

The 2019 Speedo Sectionals Jenks continued today with day two. Events included the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, and 50 breast. Top place finishers from night one such as Brady Kendall, Autumn Haebig and Jack Dolan kept their spots on the podium tonight, and all competitors kept the fast swims and heavy competition going. Teams such as Club Husker, American Energy, and Greater Omaha were a presence in the top eight of several events. Below are the top eight finishers in each event of the night.

Women’s 400 IM

Taking home the gold in the first event of the night was Springfield’s 16 year old Kate McCarville, touching the wall with a 4:54.56. Behind her, swimming unattached, was Amelie Lessing with a 4:57.64. Placing third was Club Husker’s Victoria Beeler in a 4:58.16. Club Husker certainly made a name for themselves in this event, with half of the top eight finishers coming from them. Rounding out the top eight was Splash Club’s Haley Downey (4:59.70), Club Husker’s Madison Coughlen (4:59.90), University of Arkansas’ Peyton Palsha (5:00.31), Club Husker’s Allison Kopas (5:01.24), Club Husker’s Audrey Coffey (5:07.05) rounded out the top eight.

Men’s 400 IM

Placing first for the men was American Energy Swim Club’s Luke Davis. Davis, beating out his closest competitor by four seconds, clocked in at a 4:31.25 – a six-second drop. Ryan Baker of Parkway placed second with a 4:35.11. Coming in third, also from Parkway, was Tyler Lewis with a 4:40.24. Arkansas Dolphins’ Nathan Bright (4:41.87), Empire KC’s Daniel Worth (4:42.60), Unattached Luke Valley (4:42.96), Club North’s Robert Hill (4:50.94), and Arkansas Dolphins’ Phillip Stanley (4:44.39) completed the top eight.

Women’s 100 Fly

Bringing home the win in the women’s 100 fly was Plymouth Canton’s 14 year old Brady Kendall, clocking in at a 1:00.91. Kendall, who placed second the 50 fly just the day before, came back tonight to win the 100 by one second. Coming in behind her was Springfield’s 16 year old Kate McCarville in a 1:01.91. Third place went to Aggie Swim Club’s Caroline Theil with a 1:02.60. Unattached Autumn Looney (1:02.77), Splash Club’s Greta Olsen (1:02.93), Kansas Swimming’s Elizabeth Amato-Hanner (1:03.10), University of Arkansas’ Marlena Pigliacampi (1:03.49), and Parkway’s Karisa Franz (1:03.53) rounded out the top eight.

Men’s 100 Fly

Finishing first for the men was Greater Omaha’s 17 year old Rush Clark with a 54.90. Placing second after coming off his victory in the 100 fly the night before was Sooner Swim Club’s 16 year old Aiden Hayes with a 55.34. Finishing third was Witchita’s Benjamin Patton with a 55.63. Sarpy County’s Luke Barr (56.08), American Energy’s William Ingram and Parkway’s Noah Scheuermann (56.31), Aquatic Club of Elkhorn’s Jason Schroeder (56.60), and Sarpy County’s Thomas Lundin (56.67) rounded out the men’s top eight.

Women’s 200 Free

In a close race, Club Husker’s Autumn Haebig took home the gold in the women’s 200 free with a 2:02.26. Just last night Haebig placed second in the 800 free. Right behind her was Swim Tulsa’s Liberty Howell with a 2:02.29, who also placed second last night in the 100 free. American Energy’s Catherine Callahan finished third with a 2:05.59. Completing the top eight was Club Husker’s Allie Worrall (2:05.77), Fremont Area’s Zoe Thatcher (2:05.83), Kansas Swimming’s Claire Campbell (2:06.21), Club Husker’s Jessica Pentlarge (2:06.63), and Fremont Area’s Eleni Kotzamanis (2:07.40).

Men’s 200 Free

Coming off his win in the 100 free last night, Rockwood’s Jack Dolan kept his streak going with the men’s 200 free, touching the wall for first with a 1:52.34. Coming in second was American Energy’s 16 years old George Glover with a 1:53.69. Finishing third was Missouri State’s Antonio Thomas in a 1:54.09. Thomas won the 800 free just last night. Northwest Arkansas’ Ryan Husband (1:54.27), Fremont Area’s Carter Nelson (1:54.74), Trident Aquatics’ Christopher Callan (1:55.41), Fremont Area’s Aaron Kohler (1:56.26), and Arkansas Dolphins’ Vincent Jaworski (1:57.46) rounded out the top eight.

Women’s 50 Breast

Splash Club’s Katherine Steward took home the gold in the last women’s event of the night in a 32.61. It was a close race for second, which ended ultimately with American Energy’s Hanna Newby placing second in a 32.72, and Greater Omaha’s 16 year old Jocelyn Randby finishing third with a 32.73. Splash Club’s Haley Downey (32.76), Springfield’s Olivia Mendenhall (32.98), Springfield’s Aubree Brouwer (33.69), Dart Frog Aquatics’ Isabella Cothern (33.76), and Lincoln Select’s Katie Stonehocker (33.93) completed the top eight.

Men’s 50 Breast

Placing first in the final event of the night was Sarpy County’s Noah Barr with a 28.29. Coming in second was Parkway’s Mark Franz. The third place finisher was Kansas City Swim Academy’s Aleksei Hernandez-Nietling with a 28.68. Greater Omaha Aquatics’ Conner Funke (29.16), Kansas City Blazers’ Maxwell Boehnlein (29.46), Sarpy County’s Luke Barr (29.48), Sooner Swim Club’s Alexander Stamatin (29.61), and Lincoln Select’s Alexander Petty (31.14) rounded out the final top eight of the night.

Competition will continue tomorrow, with day three prelims beginning at 9 a.m. Events include the 400 free, 100 breast, 200 fly, 50 back and 800 free relay.

In this world of instant information having to wait for an hour or more for your swimmers event to load was at best a huge annoyance!!! At our local meets the results fill within minutes of the HEAT finish not hours after the entire event ends!!
If it was intentional (leaving the number of heats at one) I’m discussed but if the staff is too unfamiliar with the program to figute it out, i suggest you have better training.
$50 to get in and then being activated after each event is ridiculous!
