2019 Pac-12 Men’s Championship Day 3 Prelims: Cal Takes 3 Top Seeds

Cal remains on top of the leader board with 342 points after day 2 of the 2019 Men’s Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships, followed closely by Stanford with 308 points. Arizona State starts the morning in third place with 248 points.

Sean Grieshop of Cal and Alex Liang of Stanford will be the two to watch in this morning’s 400 IM as they are seeded .10 seconds apart and battle for the top seed going into tonight’s finals.

Cal swimmers, Zheng Quah and Ryan Hoffer take the top two seeds going into the 100 fly, and hope to remain on top to earn more points for the Bears in finals.

Andrew Seliskar of Cal goes into the 200 free leading the competition by nearly two seconds.

USC’s Carsten Vissering leads the pack with a time of 50.88 going into the 100 breast.

This morning’s 100 back will be close as swimmers, Chatham Dobbs of Arizona, Zachary Poti of ASU, Bryce Mefford of Cal, and Patrick Mulcare of USC all go into the race .21 seconds apart.

Arizona takes three of the top eight seeds going into tonight’s finals, including top seed David Schlicht, with a time of 3:42.29.

In second was one of the four swimmers Cal put into tonights A finals, Mike Thomas, with a time of 3:42.82.

Sean Grieshop of Cal took third with a time of 3:43.05, and following closely behind was Arizona’s Sam Iida with a time of 3:43.07.

In fifth was Alex Liang of Stanford with a time of 3:44.34, in sixth was Etay Gurevich of Arizona with a time of 3:44.52, in seventh was Chris Jhong of Cal with a time of 3:44.61, and in eighth was Ken Takahashi of Cal with a time of 3:45.21.

100 Fly

The 100 fly will be a close race in tonight’s finals as the top eight seeds are seeded less than a second apart after this morning’s prelims.

Zheng Quah of Cal claims the top seed with a time of 45.74, followed closely by his teammate Pawel Sendyk with a time of 46.08.

In third was Alex Valente of USC with a time of 46.13, in fourth was Khalil Fonder of ASU with a time of 46.15, in fifth was Chatham Dobbs of Arizona with a time of 46.20, in sixth was Ryan Hoffer of Cal with a time of 46.23, in seventh was Brad Zdroik of Stanford with a time of 46.27, and in eighth was Noah Reid of Arizona with a time of 46.32.

200 Free

Andrew Seliskar of Cal held his top seed going into finals with a time of 1:32.83

Coming in second in this morning’s 200 free was Jorge Iga of Arizona with a time of 1:33.26.

In third was Jack LeVant of Stanford with a time of 1:33.78, in fourth was Grant House of ASU with a time of 1:34.01, and in fifth was Austin Phillips of Utah with a time of 1:34.07.

Liam O’Haimhirgin of Utah dropped nearly five seconds earning him sixth with a time of 1:34.11, in seventh was Julian Trenton of Cal with a time of 1:34.18, and in eighth was Mason Gonzalez of Stanford with a time of 1:34.55.

100 Breast

Reece Whitley of Cal takes the top seed in the 100 breast with a time of 51.84.

USC’s Carsten Vissering comes in second with a time of 52.17, followed by Matt Anderson of Stanford with a time of 52.49.

In fourth was Mario Koenigsperger of USC with a time of 52.68, in a close fifth was Hank Poppe of Stanford with a time of 52.70, in sixth was Carson Sand of Cal with a time of 52.80, in a close seventh was Danny Comforti of ASU with a time of 52.81, and in eighth was Karl Arvidsson of Cal dropping almost two seconds to get a time 52.83.

100 Back

Zachary Poti of ASU captures the top seed in the 100 back with a time of 45.44.

In second was Daniel Carr of Cal with a time of 45.59 and in third was Arizona’s Chatham Dobbs with a time of 45.79.

In fourth was Thomas Anderson of Arizona with a time of 45.90, in fifth was Bryce Mefford of Cal with a time of 46.08, and in sixth was Ethan Young of Cal with a time of 46.12.

In seventh was top seed of this mornings 100 fly, Zheng Quah of Cal, managing to get into the A finals with a time of 46.41, and in eight was Ryan Dudzinski of Stanford with a time of 46.43.
