NEW COMMIT: Northwestern University has received a new verbal commitment from Foster City, Calif. native Emma Lepisova. She will join the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2023.

Lepisova does her club swimming with Burlingame Aquatic Club and is a U.S. Open qualifier in the 200m back. She capped off a successful long course season with a win in the 200m back at Santa Clara Futures after placing 22nd in the same event at Junior Nationals. She raced four events at Juniors West last winter and notched a trio of lifetime bests at Carlsbad Speedo Sectionals in March.

Lepisova also represents San Mateo and has raced at the CIF State Championships the past two years of her high school career. The NISCA All-American placed fifth in the 100 back as a junior at State after finishing fourth in the event at CIF-Central Sections.

She told Swimming World:

“I would first like to thank all the people who have helped me through this whole recruiting process: my coach, my family, my friends, and all the coaches I have had the pleasure of speaking to throughout my recruiting journey. I chose Northwestern because of the perfect balance between swimming and academics. I will be able to pursue my swimming career while studying at one of the best universities in the world. The team and coaches were welcoming and kind, and I am extremely excited to be on this amazing team! Go Cats!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 Back 55.03
  • 200 Back 1:57.77
  • 50 Free 24.24
  • 100 Free 52.72
  • 200 IM 2:06.19

When she suits up for the Wildcats at the start of the 2019-20 season, Lepisova will join a backstroke training group that includes Calypso Sheridan, Krystal Lara and Nicole Aarts. Her best 200 back time would’ve score in the C-final of the 2018 Big Ten Championships.
