UCLA Adds Another for 2022-23 From Sprinter Fiona Schere of North Baltimore

NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Fiona Schere of Severn, Md. has announced her verbal commitment to UCLA beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join Ashley Kolessar, Beril Böcekler, Morganne MalloyKatrina BellioRosie MurphyAva Lachey, Fay Lustriaand Courtney Seljeseth as a member of the Bruins’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose UCLA because of its amazing coaching staff as well as its familial atmosphere! I can’t wait to be a bruin!”

A versatile swimmer, Schere does her club swimming with North Baltimore Aquatic Club and most recently finaled in the 100m free at the ISCA International Senior Cup last month after winning that event, as well as posting four additional top-15 finishes, at Maryland Seniors in 2020.

Schere, who is currently a junior at The Key School, also raced two events at Junior Nationals in August 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.22
  • 50 free – 23.12
  • 100 free – 50.08
  • 200 free – 1:51.96
  • 100 back – 57.17
  • 200 back – 2:03.92
  • 100 fly – 56.22
  • 200 IM – 2:05.87

Under head coach Jordan Wolfrum, UCLA finished third overall at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships.
