Swim Poll of the Week: How Are You Communicating With Your Team During COVID-19?

This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Friday May 15, 2020, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: How are you communicating with your team during COVID-19?

The coronavirus pandemic has caused almost the entire world to be locked inside their homes, making it difficult for swim teams to stay connected. Many have resulted to holding organized dryland workouts via Zoom. Several of Britain’s best swimmers including Adam Peaty and Ben Proud have been swimming in their backyards while communicating with their head coach who is watching remotely.

However, the NCAA has not been allowing schools to hold organized workouts over Zoom, thus allowing athletes to have to practice on their own. It has been a challenging time for all involved, as a global pandemic has not occurred in any of our lifetimes. Sports have been on hold in the United States since mid-March, and the Olympic Games have been pushed back to July 2021, and the 2021 World Championships will now be held in 2022. There is no definitive time table for when teams will be able to hold organized practices, although some teams have returned to the pool adhering to strict social distancing guidelines. So many teams have resorted to communicating virtually rather than in-person.
