Swim Poll of the Week: 48% Believe Ryan Hoffer Was Best Swimmer at Men’s NCAAs

This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Wednesday April 7, 2021, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: Who should have been swimmer of the meet at the Men’s Division I NCAAs this year?

The CSCAA handed out the swimmer of the year award virtually this year after the conclusion of the 2021 Division I Men’s NCAAs in Greensboro as they allowed the people back at home to vote between Cal’s Ryan Hoffer, Texas A&M’s Shaine Casas and Florida’s Bobby Finke.

Hoffer won three events, achieving a lifetime best in the 50 and 100 free and 100 butterfly as his 50 put him second all-time and his other two swims put him fifth all-time.

Casas won his three events, putting himself second all-time in the 200 backstroke, and also won both the 200 IM and 100 back. His win in the 200 IM was the first for the Texas A&M men in program history.

Finke had an impressive come from behind win in the 400 IM, scoring an upset over Texas’ Carson Foster, and followed that up with the third fastest swim ever in the 1650 on Saturday. Finke beat second place finisher Jake Magahey by 16 seconds in the 1650 and never seemed challenged during the race.

Casas ended up winning the official award, but we wanted to ask our audience for the swim poll who they would have voted for between those three swimmers.
