Marko Pintaric, who starred for USC as a player and then served for 18 seasons as an assistant to former head coach Jovan Vavic, has been named head coach for both the Trojan men and women. In two decades with Troy, Pintaric has been part of 14 NCAA championships as a coach and was a key player in USC’s first-ever water polo title in 1998.

Kyle Chalmers, the reigning 100 free Olympic champion who won five medals at the recent World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, recently underwent surgery for the third time to correct his supraventricular tachycardia condition—a recurrent rapid heartbeat that is normally not life-threatening. The 21-year-old is hoping for a full recovery, with his sights set on Australia’s Olympic Trials in June 2020 in his hometown of Adelaide.

Canada’s Taylor Ruck has put together quite an impressive string of performances over the last 16 months: gold at the Commonwealth Games, gold at the Pan Pac Championships, NCAA champion at Stanford and three-time medalist at the World Championships. To make sure she’ll have a similar impact next year in Tokyo, she decided to take an Olympic redshirt year from Stanford and train in Toronto at Canada’s High Performance Center through the Olympics, then return to Stanford in the fall of 2020.
