Sprinter Caroline Foltz of York YMCA Sends Verbal Pledge to Virginia Tech’s Class of 2026

NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Caroline Foltz of Millersville, Pa. has announced her verbal commitment to Virginia Tech beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will arrive in Blacksburg as a member of the Hokies’ Class of 2026 along with Isabel Marstellar and Carmen Weiler.

She told Swimming World:

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Virginia Tech! Tech is the perfect place for me to continue my growth as both an athlete and a student, and I am proud to join the Hokie family. I want to thank the VT coaches, my parents, and all who have supported me along the way. Go Hokies!!”

Foltz, who does her club swimming with York YMCA for coach John Nelson, is a talented sprinter who won both the 50 and 100 free at the YMCA PA Centra District Championships in March. She recorded three best times and seven top-12 finishes at the BRY Winterfest Invitational last January and raced five events at YMCA LCM Nationals in Summer 2019.

Her best times include:

  • 50 Free – 23.41
  • 100 Free – 51.05
  • 200 Free – 1:52.76
  • 100 Fly – 56.88

When she arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season, Foltz will join a training group led by Sarah ShackelfordEmma Atkinson, and Kierstin Godfrey. Under head coach Sergio Lopez, Virginia Tech finished eighth in the team standings at the 2020 ACC Championships and just welcomed an extremely talented first-year class to campus.
