Rose Bowl Aquatics Sets Four National Age Group Relay Records in Time Trial

Rose Bowl Aquatics, a bronze medal club based in southern California, set four national age group relay records over the weekend at an intrasquad meet over the weekend.

The team of Ronald Dalmacio (21.04), William Kim (20.37), Zach Larrick (20.68) and Rex Maurer (20.01) set the 15-16 NAG record in the 200 free relay with a 1:22.10, breaking the old record of 1:22.51 set by Mason Manta Rays in 2018. The old record quartet consisted of Adam Chaney, Scott Shepherd, Jacob McDonald and Carson Foster as the Manta Rays still hold the 15-16 NAG record in the 200 medley relay.

That same Rose Bowl quartet returned Sunday with a 2:59.57 in the 400 free relay, breaking the old record at 3:00.53 set earlier this season by Zionsville Swim Club in Indiana. Kim (45.19), Dalmacio (45.16), Larrick (45.17) and Maurer (44.05) became the youngest sub-3:00 400 free relay in short course yards. Kim and Dalmacio are both juniors in the class of 2022 while Larrick and Maurer are sophomores in the class of 2023.

On Friday night, the quartet of Dalmacio (1:39.32), Kim (1:37.99), Larrick (1:36.79) and Maurer (1:36.35) demolished the 800 free relay NAG record with a 6:30.45, lowering the existing record of 6:36.61 set by the TAC Titans in 2020. That team of Michael Cotter, Lance Norris, David Greeley and Braeden Haughey had set the record a week before the COVID pandemic took full force in the US in March 2020.

The Rose Bowl Aquatics 17-18 mixed 400 medley relay team of Tommy Park (49.88), Chris O’Grady (54.35), Alex Syrkin (54.96) and Emily Xu (50.96) swam a 3:30.15 to lower the existing NAG record of 3:30.21 set in 2020 by the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg team of Garrett Boone, Jack Meehan, Liza Whitmire and Lindsay Flynn.
