Two-time world 1500m silver medallist Mykhailo Romanchuk will compete for Aqua Centurions in the second season of the International Swimming League starting in Budapest next month.

The Ukrainian was part of the Energy Standard team that triumphed in the Grand Finale in Las Vegas last December.

However, he has now made the switch to the Rome-based squad where he will join the likes of double Olympic medallist Federica Pellegrini and Brazilian world freestyle relay medallist Marcelo Chierighini.

Romanchuk announced the news on social media, saying: “ready to fight with my new team @isl_aquacenturions ?See you in @iswimleague season 2 ✌?

Romanchuk competed over 400 free for Energy Standard last season, a distance in which he is the defending European long-course champion.

The 24-year-old will take his place in the 10-strong league which will launch in the Hungarian capital on 16 October, heralding a five-week schedule with the semis set for the week of 15 November.

The venue and date for the grand finale is yet to be confirmed although the ISL are hoping to go to Tokyo in late December.
