Penn State Scores First Class of 2026 Verbal from Futures Finalist Justin Schneider

NEW COMMIT: Penn State University has received their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Justin Schneider of Murrieta, Calif.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to Penn State University. I am looking forward to continuing my academic and swimming career as a Nittany Lion. Thank you to the Penn State coaches and Team for helping me make this choice during such an unusual recruiting season. I want to thank my parents, siblings, family, TMEC coaches and teammates for always pushing me each day. I look forward to start my training at Penn State in the fall of 2022. #WeAre”

Schneider, who trains year-round with Temecula Swim Club under head coach Jenn Beech, finaled in four events at Carlsbad Sectionals last February after racing six events at Juniors West in 2019.

In Summer 2019, he earned 100% best times at Santa Clarita Sectionals before going on to win gold in the 100m free at the RAA Summer Junior Olympics. Schneider also finished seventh in the 800m free, ninth in the 400m free and 10th in the 1500m free at Mount Hood Futures.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.06
  • 100 free – 45.95
  • 200 free – 1:40.93
  • 500 free – 4:30.34
  • 1000 free – 9:27.70
  • 1650 free – 15:59.82
  • 100 fly – 50.50
  • 200 fly – 1:53.49
  • 100 back – 51.56
  • 400 IM – 4:03.54

Currently a junior at Murrieta Mesa High School, Schneider finished 15th at the CIF State Championships as a freshman. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also placed fifth in that event as well as eighth in the 200 free at the 2019 CIF Southern DII Section Championships.

A versatile freestyler, Schneider will add valuable depth in a range of events when he arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season.
