Penn Quakers Add Verbals from Michael Foley, Luke Williams to Class of 2025

NEW COMMIT: The University of Pennsylvania has recently picked up a pair of verbal commitments* for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Safety Harbor, Fla. native Luke Williams and Michael Foley of Haddonfield, N.J.

Both swimmers will join Aaron Rosen as well as U.S. National Junior Teamer Matthew Fallon as a member of the Quakers’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study engineering at the University of Pennsylvania! I am so grateful for everyone that supported me through it all, and I can’t wait to spend the next four years of my life as a Quaker!!”

Primarily a freestyler, Foley swims year-round with  Jersey Wahoos and collected the bronze medal with four additional top-10 finishes at the TPIT Christmas Invite in December. He achieved eight best times at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors last summer before going on to final in three events at Eastern Zone Seniors.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:43.90
  • 500 free – 4:37.18
  • 1000 free – 9:29.66
  • 1650 free – 15:53.04

A rising senior at Haddonfield Memorial High School, Foley finished ninth in the 500 free at the New Jersey Meet of Champions during his junior campaign. He has also been awarded USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in his career thus far.

LUKE WILLIAMS

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pennsylvania! I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates that have supported me along the way. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team and university! Go Quakers!”

Also a talented freestyler, Williams does his club swimming with Saint Petersburg Aquatics and recorded four top-10 finishes at the Clearwater Invitational in December. Last summer, he notched a best time at Gainesville Sectionals before going on to win two events at the Florida International Championships.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.54
  • 500 free – 4:31.53
  • 1000 free – 9:32.56
  • 1650 free – 15:58.64

Also competing for Palm Harbor University High School, Williams is a three-time Florida 4A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fourth in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free as a junior while taking 13th in the latter event during his sophomore season.
