NEW COMMIT: Northern Michigan University now has a new addition to their roster for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Caitlin Aarseth of Maple Grove, Minnesota.

She will join Jillian McKinley and Joanne Arbic as a member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Northern Michigan University. I would like to give a huge thank you to my parents, my coaches, and of course my teammates and friends. Without you guys I wouldn’t be able to have this opportunity. GO WILDCATS”

A freestyler and backstroker, Aarseth does her club swimming with Aquajets Swim Team and most recently earned three best times at Minnesota LCM Seniors where she placed 17th in the 800m free after taking ninth in the 1500m free at Minneapolis Sectionals. In March 2020, she had four top-22 finishes at Minnesota SCY Seniors, including a 12th-place showing in the mile.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:56.18
  • 500 free – 5:09.21
  • 1650 free – 17:50.76
  • 100 back – 59.90
  • 200 back – 2:07.56

Also competing for Maple Grove Senior High School, Aarseth finished 18th and 19th in the 200 free and 500 free, respectively, at the Minnesota Class AA State Championships during her freshman season.

Under head coach Heidi Voigt, the Wildcats won their seventh GLIAC Championship title in school history and their first since 2002 in 2020, and finished second in 2021.
