NC State Wolfpack Add Another Verbal For 2022 From Collin McKenzie of The Fish

NEW COMMIT: NC State University has added another addition to their impressive Class of 2026 from Junior National qualifier Collin McKenzie of Washington, D.C.

He will join Quinitn McCarty, Drew SallsStephen ConradJT EwingKyle PonslerMichael CotterLance Norris, and Ryan Weaver in Raleigh in the fall of 2022.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am proud to announce my commitment to North Carolina State University. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, family and friends for helping me get to this point. Go pack!!♦️?#pbg”

A versatile swimmer, McKenzie does his club swimming with The Fish and earned seven best times at the PV SC Championships last month after posting a trio of top-8 finishes at the 18&U Winter Championships in December.

In Summer 2019, he earned 100% best times at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to race six events at the NCSA Long Course Championships.

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:47.65
  • 100 breast – 55.16
  • 200 breast – 1:59.26
  • 100 back – 48.72
  • 200 back – 1:48.93
  • 100 fly – 49.52

Currently a junior at Gonzaga College High School, McKenzie is a four-time individual Washington Metropolitan Prep School League Championship finalist. He placed second in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breast as a sophomore while taking fourth and sixth in the 200 IM and 100 back, respectively, during his freshman season.

In 2020, he raced to third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 breast at the National Catholic High School Championships. He took 17th in the 200 IM as a rookie at the Eastern Interscholastic Championships as well.

Under head coach Braden Holloway, the Wolfpack has also signed an impressive class for the fall of 2021 that includes Noè Ponti, Nathan KempiakAlexander Noergaard, Aiden HayesDavid CurtissGarrett BooneArsenio Bustos and Sam Hoover.

Welcome to the Pack Collin. SW, you missed Noe Ponti in ‘21 who has already qualified for Tokyo and is Top 10 in the world. Gonna be exciting NCAAs with some new faces.
