Junior National Qualifier Jacob McCarran of Racer X Aquatics Selects MIT

NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Jacob McCarran has announced his commitment to continue his academic and swimming career at Massachusetts Institute of Technology beginning in the fall of 2021.

A talented breaststroker, McCarran does his club swimming with Racer X Aquatics and most recently earned two best times at the ISCA International Senior Cup last month. In July 2019, he competed in three events at Geneva Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 55.97
  • 200 breast – 2:05.53

Also competing for North Allegheny Senior High School, McCarran placed fifth in the 100 breast at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships as a senior. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is also a seven-time WPIAL Championship finalist.

Under head coach Meg Sisson French, MIT captured their 12th-straight NEWMAC title.
