Greta Gidley, Abbey Ketslakh, Letitia Sim Will Become Michigan Wolverines With 2021 Verbals

NEW COMMITS: The University of Michigan has picked up two new verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from local standout Abbey Ketslakh of Ann Arbor, Mich. as well as Spanish Fort, Ala. native Letitia Sim.

Farmington Hills, Mich. native Greta Gidley has changed her verbal commitment from Alabama to Michigan, and all three swimmers will suit up for the Wolverines as members of the class of 2025.

Regarding her change in commitment, she said:

“After a lot of thought and consideration, I could not be more excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Michigan! Thank you to my coaches and teammates, friends and family for helping me to achieve this goal. Cannot wait to fulfill my childhood dreams, Go Blue”

Gidley, who owns four Winter Juniors standards, swims year-round with Farmington Family YMCA, most recently registered four top-10 finishes at the Michigan Open. Last summer, she capped off her long course season with a pair of best times at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.24
  • 100 free – 50.31
  • 200 free – 1:48.99
  • 200 IM – 2:00.18

A current junior at Mercy Catholic High School, Gidley is a six-time Michigan State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 free and was the 200 IM runner-up in 2019, placed sixth in the 100 free and ninth in the 200 free as a sophomore, and fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free during her freshman season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I could not be more excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Michigan! A huge thank you to my family, friends and coaches for helping me make my dream come true. Go Blue!”

Primarily a sprint freestyler, Ketslakh does her club swimming with Club Wolverine and owns a pair of Junior National cuts. She most recently recorded four top-10 finishes at the Michigan Open after finaling in the 50 free at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she raced to eighth in the 100m free at Cleveland Sectionals and notched a best time at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.34
  • 100 free – 50.96
  • 200 free – 1:51.60
  • 100 fly – 56.27

A current junior at Huron High School, Ketslakh is a four-time Michigan DI State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished seventh in the 100 free and 13th in the 200 free during her sophomore season after taking seventh and 12th, respectively, in those events as a freshman.

LETITIA SIM

Incredibly versatile, Sim swims year-round with TNT Swimming and owns a pair of Olympic Trials cut with nine additional Junior National standards. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American most recently collected three gold medals at the Southeastern Championships and was the 100 breast runner-up at Juniors East in December.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 28.02
  • 100 breast – 1:00.27
  • 200 breast – 2:11.03
  • 100 fly – 53.59
  • 200 fly – 1:58.43
  • 200 IM – 1:59.15
  • 400 IM – 4:17.76
  • 100 back – 54.84
  • 200 back – 1:58.17

This past summer, Sim earned seven best times at NCSAs where she swept all three breaststroke events. Also competing for Spanish Fort High School, she won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the Alabama State Championships during her sophomore season.
