Anthony Ervin Sets USMS Record; Fowler, Val, Bilich, Blair Set Marks at Masters Summer Nationals

Anthony Ervin made his mark at the US Masters Summer Nationals.

During Day 2 of the meet in Mission Viejo, California, Ervin, swimming for Swim Fort Lauderdale, broke the US Masters Age Group record for the 35-39 50 freestyle, winning the race in 23.09.

Ervin wasn’t the only swimmer to set a US Masters record. In fact, a few world records were broken on Day 2 of the meet.

Jamie Fowler, of Novaquatics Masters, broke the men’s 60-64 200 backstroke record — 2:26.12 — which broke the USMS record and FINA Masters world record.

Bonnie Bilich, of Walnut Creek Masters, set the women’s 60-64 200 backstroke mark in 2:41.57, a USMS record and FINA Masters world record.

Laura Val, of Tamalpais Aquatics Masters set her mark in the women’s 65-69 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:47.70 to set the USMS record and FINA Masters world record.

Holly Green Blair, of Palm Beach Masters won the women’s 55-59 50 freestyle, finishing in 28.46  a USMS record and FINA Masters world record.
