2019 US Masters Summer Nationals: Groselle, Burns, West Lead Record-Breaking Swims

Two Masters World Records and eight more US Masters age group records were set on Day 3 of the 2019 US Masters Summer National Championships from Mission Viejo.

Jack Groselle, of the Sarasota Sharks Masters, broke the men’s 65-69 100 freestyle record in 59.49 — a USMS record and FINA Masters world record.

The other world record was the Ventura County Masters men’s 280-319 200 medley relay, which swam a 2:15.90 to break the USMS record and FINA Masters world record.

Several other swimmers saw record-breaking performances on Day 3 of the 2019 US Masters Summer National Championships from Mission Viejo.

Richard Burns, of Tamalpais Aquatic Masters, broke the men’s 75-79 100 freestyle mark in 1:06.55, a USMS record.

Steve West, of Novaquatics Masters broke the record in the men’s 45-49 50 breaststroke, swimming a 29.42 for a USMS record.

Laurel Hill, of Arizona Masters, set the new mark in the women’s 50-54 50 breaststroke with a 36.94 — a USMS record.

Jeff Natalizio, of UCLA Bruin Masters, set the men’s 35-39 50 backstroke record in 26.74, a USMS record.

Meguru Hotta, of Phoenix Swim Club set the men’s 18-24 50 backstroke mark in 26.65, a USMS record.

The Swim Fort Lauderdale mixed 72-99 200 freestyle relay set the record in 1:45.12, a USMS record.

They weren’t the only relay to break a record.

The Novaquatics Masters women’s 240-279 200 medley relay broke the USMS record with a 2:23.54, and the Oregon Masters women’s 240-279 200 medley relay swam a 2:22.45 to break the USMS record.
