The psych sheets for the 2018 California High School (CIF) state championships have been released. After many quick Sectional Championships where a number of meet records went down, many athletes are moving on to the state championship, though some of the top athletes have finished their high school seasons and have returned to their club teams for the long course season.

Girls

Davis High School has the top seed in the 200 medley relay, leading the way by a full quarter second.

After a great meet last weekend, Samantha Shelton is the top seed in the 200 freestyle. The Harvard commit is joined atop the psych sheet by her Santa Margarita teammate Ella Ristic. Santa Margarita earns another top seed in the 50 freestyle where Anicka Delgado leads the way. Delgado also has the fastest time in the 100 butterfly.

Country Day High School’s Amalie Fackenthal is tied for second seed in the 50 free and is the fastest of four swimmers under 50 seconds in the 100 freestyle. Ristic is the third seed in the 100 free.

Four girls have posted sub-two minute 200 IMs this year. Zoie Hartman, a Monte Vista junior holds the top spot. Swimming a bold lineup of events, Shelton is also entered, taking the sixth seed. Hartman is also the first seed in the 100 breaststroke.

Granada junior Miranda Heckman leads a stacked field in the 500 freestyle. Granite Bay’s sophomore Chloe Clark comes into the meet a full second ahead of second place in the 100 backstroke. Santa Margarita has the top seed in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Boys

Northwood is over a half second ahead of the next best team in the 200 medley relay.

Northgate senior Alexei Sancov has separated himself from the 200 freestyle field. A pair of Foothill athletes follow: Jonah Cooper and Calvin David. Sancov should find himself with a tighter race in the 500 freestyle where Andrew Koustik and David are on his heels. Cooper has opted for the 100 backstroke as his second event, where he is seeded two and a half seconds ahead of second.

Amador Valley’s Chris Jhong comes into the meet over two seconds ahead of the next best swimmer in the 200 IM. The Harker School’s Ethan Hu is the second seed in the 200 IM, but first seed in the 100 fly.

La Costa Canyon’s Dylan Delaney leads a trio of seniors atop the 50 freestyle rankings. In the 100 freestyle, three juniors have the fastest times, led by Bellarmine College Prep’s Max Saunders.

Ben Dillard, only a freshman, at Oak Ridge High School, is the fastest entrant in the 100 breaststroke.

Bellarmine College Prep is the top seed in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
