Video Interview: Sierra Schmidt Enjoyed Racing “Big Girls” at CeraVe Invite

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey, January 14. RACING a member of the USA Swimming national team might be daunting for most teenagers at a run-of-the-mill in-season meet, but not Sierra Schmidt.

The 15-year-old swam well at the CeraVe Invitational last weekend, often racing in the lane next to multiple event winner Gillian Ryan. In this video interview with Swimming World intern Heidi Torregroza, Schmidt talked about her experiences behind the blocks with Ryan and other “big girls,” and how she approached her races in the long course meet this weekend.

She also talks about overcoming the adversity of not training in a long course pool before the meet and how she learns to “recalibrate and see what things I need to work on in practice and what I need to focus on out of practice, like my eating habits.”

More video interviews from the CeraVe Invitational are now available on our meet landing page!
