U.S. Duets Win Gold At UANA Pan American Championships

Duets from the U.S. Senior National Team and the La Mirada Aquabelles won gold medals Wednesday at the UANA Pan American Artistic Swimming Championships.
Team USA’s Yara Elian (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Ruby Remati (Andover, Mass.) won the senior duet free final, finishing with 80.2667 points. Canada’s Claudia Holzne and Andree-Anne Cote won silver at 77.9333, and Argentina’s Camila Maria Arregui and Trinidad Lopez Brasesco were third with 75.7333 points.
La Mirada’s Aivan Nguyen and Noelle Song won the junior duet free final with 76.8000 points. Brazil’s Anna Giulia Franca Velsos and Laura De Souza Miccuci (75.5333) were second and Canada’s Emma Fox and Jade Warren (74.1333) were third.
Three members of the U.S. 12 & Under National Team finished 1-2-3 in the 12U figures competition, led by Gianna Bonacorso, who had 63.3275 points. Teammates Elle Santana (63.2993) and Elizabeth Fullen (63.2641) finished second and third.
Canada’s Claire Scheffel led the 13-15 figures competition with 74.1964 points. Bailey Hargreaves was second at 73.5026, and teammate Kiana Sweet was third at 73.4694. The top Team USA swimmers were Chiara Steele (fourth, 73.1709), Megumi Field (sixth, 72.9005) and Gabriella Terry (72.3112).
