Regan Smith, Riptide Win USA Sectional, MLA Men Win

Regan Smith continued her dominance at the USA Speedo Sectional championships in Akron, Ohio.

Smith, 16, swimming for Riptide, won the 200 IM in 1:56.58, finishing ahead of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics’ Kathryn Ackerman (1:59.01) for the third time of the meet.

Smith led off the winning 4×100 medley relay in 51.11. She, Emily Heymans, Winter Craig and Lucia Rizzo won in 3:44.11 ahead of MLA’s Ackerman, Caroline Sisson, Elle Giesler and Lilly Brandt (3:47.10).

In the women’s meet, Riptide won with 549, followed by Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics with 490 and Drop Aquatics with 352.

Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics won the men’s meet with 820 points. The Lake Erie Silver Dolphins were second at 298 and Southwest Y Michigan was third at 271.

MLA’s Ian Miskelley (1:49.82) and Skyler Cook-Weeks (1:50.70) went 1-2 in the 200 IM, ahead of Tyler Hong (1:50.99).

Cook-Weeks, Khadin Soto, Riley VanMeter and Cameron Peel won the 4×100 medley relay in 3:22.18.

In the women’s 100 free, Olivia Livingston won in 49.52, ahead of Alisabeth Marsteller (50.07) and Claire Abbasse (50.49).

Devon Nowicki won the men’s 100 free in 44.02, followed by Kimani Gregory (44.27) and Cook-Weeks (44.81) and Peel (44.84) of MLA.

Sylvia Stewart-Bates won the women’s 1650 free in 16:53.27, ahead of Mary Pruitt (16:59.53) and Drop’s Emma Inch (17:00.12).

In the men’s 1000 free, Daniel Frederick won in 9:26.05, followed by Southwest Y’s Kyriakos Peristeridis (9:28.00) and Charles Clark (9:29.61).
