Queens Sweeps NCAA Division II Championships Swimming Awards

Queens (Charlotte), with its sweep of the team titles at the NCAA Division II Championships, also took home all of the major swimming awards sponsored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.

Female Diver of the Meet: Elizabeth Rawlings, Wayne State

Diving Coach of the Meet (Women’s): Kelly LaCroix, Wayne State

Male Diver of the Meet: Collin Vest, Clarion

Diving Coach of the Meet (Men’s): Dave Hrovat, Clarion

Female Swimmer of the Meet:  Patricia Castro-Ortega, Queens

Swimming Coach of the Meet (Women’s): Jeff Dugdale, Queens

Male Swimmer of the Meet: Matthew Josa, Queens

Swimming Coach of the Meet (Men’s): Jeff Dugdale, Queens

The NCAA Elite 89 Winners were also announced.

The ELITE 89, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 89 championships.

Elite 89 Winners: Soren Holm from Wayne State University and Kristin Day from Clarion University

A total of 3,700 people were in attendance in when combining the tallies from all eight sessions.

Well if they hadn’t swept – considering the boatload of talent they have (women AND men) I’d expect a bigger furor than that over a certain former Secretary of State’s emails.

Congratulations, Coach D., ya’ dooed it in spades.

Now just get Mr. J in the plane to,Rio next year.
