Pine Crest Swimming Wins Three Relays to Open Speedo Sectionals, Plantation

Speedo Sectionals kicked off in Plantation, Florida tonight with the women’s 1500 and the men’s 800 along with a number of relays.

Anna Auld of East Coast Aquatic Club won the 1500 in 17:11.86. She was followed by Jillian Barczyk of City of Lafayette Aquatics in 17:36.79 and Christina Neri of Piranhas YMCA of the Suncoast in 17:47.54.

Michael Petrides of Kamehameha Swim Club won the men’s 800 free in 8:22.19. Colin Rockwell, swimming unattached, took second in 8:31.42, while Rafael Rodriguez of South Florida Aquatic Club took third in 8:33.58.

In the women’s 200 medley relay, the Pine Crest squad of Jessica Nava, Hannah Virgin, Alexandra Meszarnos and Marta Ciesla won in 2:01.34. East Coast Aquatic Club came in second in 2:02.30, while South Florida Aquatic Club took third in 2:03.45.

Azura Florida Aquatic won the men’s race in 1:46.93 with the squad of David Van Der Colff, Adan Diaz, Marcos Lavado and Jorge Depassier. Bolles School Sharks took second in 1:47.65 and Saint Andrew’s Swimming finished third in 1:49.24.

In the women’s 200 freestyle relay, Pine Crest yet again won with the squad of Ciesla, Nava, Meszarnos and Andrea Santander touching in 1:53.75. East Coast Aquatic Club finished second in 1:48.99 and Bolles School Sharks touched third in 1:50.49.

On the men’s side, William Davis, John Pate, Willie Davis and Thomas Heinzel of Bolles School Sharks won in 1:36.55. In second was Metro Aquatic Club of Miami in 1:37.11 and Azura Florida Aquatic took third in 1:37.21.

The mixed 200 medley and 200 free ended the night, with Azura winning the medley in 1:53.87 with the team of Carolina Colorado, Diaz, Lavado and Patricia Casellas. South Florida Aquatic Club took second in 1:55.00 and Saint Andrew’s Swimming was third in 1:55.18.

In the Mixed 200 free relay, Pine Crest picked up a win in 1:42.88 with the team of Nico Ferrara, Ciesla, Patrick Groters and Nava. East Coast Aquatic Club finished second in 1:42.98 and Saint Andrew’s Swimming took third in 1:43.08.

The meet continues tomorrow morning with a full day of prelims and finals.
