NEW COMMIT: High school junior Hunter Tapp has verbally committed to swim for NC State University beginning in fall 2019. Tapp is one of the top swimmers in Kentucky in his class. He attends Trinity High School and swims for Lakeside Swim Team.

He wrote on Twitter,

“I’m very excited to announce my commitment to North Carolina State University to further my academic and athletic careers. Thanks to my parents and coaches for helping me every step of the way. I’m very excited to join the Wolfpack Family!”

Tapp’s best times include:

  • 50 Free 20.40
  • 100 Free 43.99
  • 200 Free 1:38.80
  • 200 Back 1:48.58

A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Tapp is the Kentucky High School record holder in the 100 freestyle.

His freestyle sprinting will balance out the distance talents of in-state commit Ross Dant. The two have some overlap in backstroke. Also committed it Noah Bowers, a more backstroke and butterfly focused athlete.
