Mona McSharry of Ireland downed her country’s National Record in the 50-meter breast, while swimming in semi-finals of the 2017 European Junior Championships.

McSharry would go on to win the gold in the event later in the session with a time of 31.38, but her semi-finals swim of 30.91 was enough to set a new National Record for Ireland.

Her time bested fellow countrywoman Fiona Doyle, who delivered a 30.93 while swimming in the heats of the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
