Richard Funk flirted with the possibility of a FINA ‘A’ cut in the men’s 50 breast during prelims. Funk stopped the clock at a 27.76, stopping just short of the 27.51 ‘A’ cut. If Funk achieves the ‘A’ cut in finals, the Canadian record of 27.45 could very well be in jeopardy. James Guest turned in a 28.60 for second, followed by Eli Wall’s 28.63.
