NEW COMMIT: Victoria Gong, a backstroker from Laguna Niguel, Cal. has announced her verbal commitment to Brown via her Twitter account:

Gong has been a member of the Mission Viejo Nadadores for over a decade. She also competes at Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo, Cal. In 2017 alone, Gong was an A finalist in the 200 back at the Western Speedo Sectionals meet and the 100 back at the CIF Championships. This summer, she made the B final in the 200 at the Santa Clara hosted USA Swimming Futures Championships.

Gong’s Top Times:

  • 200 free – 1:52.21
  • 500 free – 5:02.97
  • 100 back – 56.39
  • 200 back – 1:59.53

At the 2017 Ivy League Championships, Gong would have narrowly missed out on the A final in the 200 back, an event where Brown only had two finalists in the top 16. She would have placed eleventh overall. In the 100, Gong would have qualified for the bonus final, as it took a 55.62 to make the top two heats.

Gong on Brown:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for and attend Brown University! I’d like to thank everyone who has supported throughout this process. Go Bruno!! ❤️?” – Gong said via Instagram

Brown has also received a verbal from Connecticut IMer Miku Takabayashi this season.
